Comfort For a Cause – Rules

COMFORT FOR A CAUSE: OFFICIAL CONTEST RULES AND INSTALLATION TERMS

NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. OPEN ONLY TO ELIGIBLE NOMINEES RESIDING ON VANCOUVER ISLAND, BRITISH COLUMBIA, WITHIN THE SPONSOR’S SERVICE AREA.

1. SPONSOR AND EQUIPMENT PROVIDER
The Comfort for a Cause contest (the “Contest”) is sponsored by The Comfort Group Heating Co., 155 Langford St, Victoria, BC V9A 3B8 (the “Sponsor”). Heating and cooling equipment for the Contest is provided by AirTek (the “Equipment Provider”). The Sponsor will install the equipment. This Contest is not sponsored, endorsed, or administered by, or associated with, Facebook, Meta, or any other social media platform.

2. CONTEST PERIOD
The Contest opens at 12:00 a.m. Pacific Time on Thursday, October 15, 2026, and closes at 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time on Sunday December 6, 2026 (the “Contest Period”). The Sponsor may extend the Contest Period at its discretion by posting notice at www.comfortgroup.ca/comfortforacause. Nominations received after the Contest Period ends will not be considered.

3. HOW TO NOMINATE
A person making a nomination (a “Nominator”) may nominate an individual or family (a “Nominee”) by completing the nomination form at www.comfortgroup.ca/comfortforacause during the Contest Period. The nomination must include the Nominator’s contact information, the Nominee’s name, address, and phone number, details about the Nominee’s home and current heating or cooling system, and a written statement (maximum 2,000 characters) explaining why the Nominee deserves to be chosen and the impact winning would have on them.

Nominator permission. Before submitting a nomination, the Nominator must get the Nominee’s permission to share the Nominee’s personal information with the Sponsor and the Equipment Provider for the purposes of this Contest. By submitting a nomination, the Nominator confirms that they have that permission.

Limit. Each Nominator may submit one (1) nomination per Nominee. A Nominator may nominate more than one different Nominee.

In plain English: You can only nominate the same person once. If you nominate your neighbour Jane, you can’t send in a second nomination for Jane. Sending duplicates won’t improve her chances, and only your first nomination for her will count. You are welcome to nominate other people too, like your coach or a family friend, as long as each one is someone different. If other people separately nominate Jane, their nominations count on their own.

A Nominator may not nominate themselves or anyone who lives in their household.

Nominations that are incomplete, illegible, false, submitted by automated means, or that otherwise do not follow these rules may be disqualified. The Sponsor is not responsible for nominations that are lost, late, misdirected, or not received because of technical problems.

4. NOMINATOR ELIGIBILITY
Nominators must be residents of British Columbia and at least nineteen (19) years old (the age of majority in British Columbia) at the time of nomination.

5. NOMINEE ELIGIBILITY
To be eligible to receive the prize, a Nominee must, at the time of nomination and at the time of installation:
(a) be a resident of Vancouver Island, British Columbia, living within the Sponsor’s service area, as determined by the Sponsor in its sole discretion;
(b) be at least nineteen (19) years old;
(c) own the home where the equipment will be installed and live there as their primary residence. The Nominee must provide proof of ownership (for example, a property tax notice or land title record) if selected;
(d) live in a single-family detached home, a townhome, or a condominium. Condominium and townhome owners in a strata must obtain written approval from their strata corporation for the installation before the installation can proceed. Mobile homes and manufactured or prefabricated homes are not eligible;
(e) have an existing heating or cooling system that is more than seven (7) years old, where the prize replaces that existing system;
(f) give the Sponsor and its representatives reasonable access to the home to inspect it and confirm the need for, and suitability of, the installation; and
(g) not be an employee, officer, director, or agent of the Sponsor, the Equipment Provider, Right Time Group or any of their parent companies, subsidiaries, affiliates, distributors, suppliers, or advertising, promotion, or public relations agencies, or an immediate family member of, or person living in the same household as, any of these people. “Immediate family” means parents, step-parents, siblings, children, stepchildren, and spouses or common-law partners.

6. HOW THE WINNER IS SELECTED
This is a contest of merit. The winner will not be chosen by random draw. A panel of Sponsor staff will review every eligible nomination and select one (1) winner (the “Recipient”) based on:
(a) the Nominee’s positive impact on their community or on the people around them;
(b) the need for a new system, including the age and condition of the Nominee’s current heating or cooling system;
(c) the suitability of the nominee for the Sponsor;
(d) the suitability of the home for the installation; and
(e) the impact the prize would have on the Nominee.

The panel’s decisions are final and binding on all matters relating to the Contest. The number of eligible nominations received will determine how many entries the panel reviews. The Sponsor reserves the right not to award the prize if no eligible nomination is received.

7. WINNER ANNOUNCEMENT AND NOTIFICATION
The Recipient will be announced on The Comfort Group’s Facebook page (www.facebook.com/TheComfortGroupRT) during the week of, December 7, 2026. The Sponsor will contact the Recipient and the Nominator by phone and/or email on the same day they are chosen.

The Recipient must respond to the Sponsor within seventy-two (72) hours of the first notification attempt. If the Recipient cannot be reached, does not respond within that time, is found to be ineligible, does not meet these rules, or declines the prize, the prize will be forfeited and the Sponsor may select an alternate Recipient from the remaining eligible nominations, using the same criteria.

Before receiving the prize, the Recipient must:
(a) sign a declaration confirming eligibility and compliance with these rules;
(b) provide proof of home ownership and, if applicable, written strata approval; and
(c) sign a release of liability and a publicity release, as described in Section 11.

The Nominator must also sign a publicity release before the Sponsor uses the Nominator’s name or likeness.

8. THE PRIZE
One (1) prize is available: the supply and installation of one (1) new heating and/or cooling system in the Recipient’s home, with an approximate retail value of up to twenty thousand dollars ($20,000 CAD) (the “Prize”).

Eligible system types are: furnace, central air conditioner, ducted heat pump, ductless mini-split heat pump, or boiler. The Sponsor will decide which system to install based on its inspection of the home and the Recipient’s needs. For example, if the Recipient needs a new air conditioner, they will receive a new air conditioner. If they need a new boiler, they will receive a new boiler.

Prize value cap. The Sponsor will select a system and installation within the $20,000 CAD maximum value. If the system that would otherwise be best suited to the home would cost more than $20,000 CAD, the Sponsor will select a suitable system that fits within the cap. Any difference between the actual value of the Prize and $20,000 CAD will not be awarded. Actual value may vary depending on the home and the system installed.

What is included: the equipment, standard installation by the Sponsor’s licensed technicians, required permits, and removal and disposal of the old equipment being replaced.

What is not included, unless the Sponsor decides otherwise in its sole discretion: new or modified ductwork, electrical panel upgrades or electrical service changes, structural work, repairs to the home, and any other work not required for a standard installation of the selected system.

The Prize is not transferable, cannot be exchanged for cash, and cannot be applied to a different property. No substitution is permitted, except that the Sponsor may substitute equipment of equal or greater value if the selected equipment becomes unavailable.

9. INSTALLATION
The installation date will be arranged between the Sponsor and the Recipient after the winner is announced. The installation must be completed by March 1, 2027. The Recipient, or an adult aged 19 or older designated by the Recipient, must be present on the installation date.

If the home is found during inspection to be unsuitable for any eligible system within the Prize value cap, or if installation cannot be completed by March 1, 2027 for reasons within the Recipient’s control (including failure to provide strata approval or access to the home), the Prize may be forfeited and the Sponsor may select an alternate Recipient.

10. WARRANTY
